Spring Time at Sage Hill

Preston and I (mainly Preston) have recently gone to Malad and helped Dave set up some new fence, clean up a bit, and take pictures of some of the 2 year olds we are trying to sell.

Preston, Nathan and Dave dug 8 ft holes to place telephone poles in with the tractor and by hand.

Here are the telephone poles and the fence all nicely set up. Dave will be stacking hay next to it so it can lean up against the poles.

This is the new fence Dave and Preston worked on.

I even helped a little too.

The Saturday that I was there we put in 65' of fence.

We were sure glad to have old Johnny to help us.

There are so many adorable foals at Sage Hill this time of year. Preston likes to catch them and pet them a bit so they get used to being handled. Preston is a pro at catching foals.

Here is a cute little buckskin filly that loves to get rubbed. She sure is friendly.

Here are just 4 of the 2 year olds that we took pictures of. This is not as easy as it looks. These horses aren't exactly trained to "pose." It takes a lot of patience for the handler of the horse and the photographer. It seems that the second you have all 4 feet positioned correctly, the horse moves one of it's legs. Then you try to move that leg back..... and the horse moves another leg. Then you have to start repositioning them all over again. Then to try and get their ears forward is another challenging task. All in all, it is quite the circus.

We also took pictures of one of Sage Hill Arabian's stallions, Buenos Partee Dude. He is part owned by a family that ropes on him. They said he is a great rope horse. Preston used to ride Dude at Coyote Creek so it was fun to see him again. He is CD's sire.
